The gamma GT test (Gamma-Glutamyl Transferase test) is a blood test that helps evaluate liver function by measuring GGT enzyme levels. It is commonly used to detect liver damage, bile duct problems, or the effects of excessive alcohol consumption. This test is often done alongside other liver function tests for accurate diagnosis. Typically, no fasting is required, but avoiding alcohol 24 hours before the test is advised. Results help doctors differentiate between liver and bone diseases and guide appropriate treatment.
