IntegrateRNA Launches Custom Aminoacyl-tRNA In Vitro Synthesis Service to Support Protein Synthesis

IntegrateRNA, the R&D focused business division of Creative Biogene that offers easy-to-use, high quality products as well as superior custom services today announced the launch of its Aminoacyl-tRNA In Vitro Synthesis Service, which will enable the generation of customized aminoacylated tRNAs in support of driving protein synthesis research.

As the molecules critical for robust protein translation in vitro systems, the technology will allow for more scalable and accurate protein synthesis of non-canonical amino acid containing proteins.

Aimed at providing researchers with the tools required to engineer proteins with improved function and features, this technology is set to be used across synthetic biology, drug discovery, enzyme engineering, and other research fields.

Technical Features and Innovations

The service uses an advanced in vitro translation system to form a covalent bond between an amino acid and a transfer RNA (tRNA) molecule. This enzyme-mediated process, which closely mimics translation occurring inside living cells, will enable researchers to achieve high-yield synthesis of aminoacylated tRNAs. The platform will also allow the inclusion of non-canonical or modified amino acids for insertion into proteins, which will expand the design space for researchers. As a result, scientists can now engineer and produce custom proteins with enhanced stability, activity, or specificity and have the potential to be used in the development of new therapeutics or industrial enzymes.

Industries and Use Cases

The service is expected to find wide applications across pharma R&D, protein engineering, and novel biologics development and some of the key use cases include its ability to insert non-standard amino acids into proteins, which can enable researchers to create protein variants with unique properties that may not be achievable through natural processes alone.

Marcia Brady, Head of Technology, Creative Biogene, said: “Synthesizing proteins with non-canonical amino acids is a game-changing development. It opens up new possibilities for designing proteins with specific properties and could significantly accelerate biotechnology development.”

Plans for the Future

In the future, IntegrateRNA plans to extend the platform further, by enabling it to support an even wider range of amino acid modifications and expanding production to industrial scale. These improvements are expected to have significant impact on synthetic biology and therapeutic protein development, leading to next-generation biopharmaceuticals and engineered enzymes.
