It is very common. RangeXTD booster helps in extending Wi-Fi range. But using its default admin/admin’ login credentials is basically like leaving your front door unlocked. So, if you’re using the RangeXTD and you haven’t changed the default login details yet; do it. It’s not just about security; it also prevents accidental resets or someone messing with your setup. The process isn’t hard, but it’s buried behind a few screens that most people never touch. Here in this guide, we will walk you through each step to Change RangeXTD Default Login Settings

Before You Start, You Must Know What You’re Changing

RangeXTD has two layers of access:

  1. One is your Wi-Fi network credentials which your wireless name and password.
  2. Other one is you admin login credential which is used for logging into the RangeXTD dashboard, through the RangeXTD app or web interface.

Here, we are talking about the second one. The admin login is used to access the RangeXTD setup page, where you can customize settings or update the firmware.

The default username and password for most RangeXTD units are:

  • Username: admin
  • Password: admin

Steps to Change RangeXTD Default Login Settings

Step 1: Connect to Your RangeXTD Network

To change the login details, you need to be connected to its network, let’s begin from there.

  • If your RangeXTD is connected with your main router then you can connect to your RangeXTD Wi-Fi network.
  • If you’re setting it up from scratch or if it’s been reset, you might see an open network name something like RangeXTD. Connect to that instead.
  • Once you’re connected, open your browser.

Step 2: Access the RangeXTD Login Page

  • Now you need to log in to the RangeXTD booster to reach the login interface.
  • Open browser on your mobile and enter and IP 192.168.7.234 in the address bar.
  • It will load the RangeXTD login page.
  • If you are unable to reach the interface. Make sure the device you are using is connected with the RangeXTD Wi-Fi.
  • Once you reach the login interface, you need to type in the default credential to login.
  • Then click Login or Sign In.

Step 3: Go to the Admin Settings

  • Once you are in, you’ll see menu options such has Status, Wireless Settings, System, Maintenance, or Management.
  • Click on System or Management, that’s where the admin credential is.
  • Look for something that says Change Password, Admin Settings, or Login Management.
  • Click that.
  • You’ll see three fields:
    • Current Password
    • New Password
    • Confirm New Password
  • Type the current one, admin if you never changed it. Then set your new password. Make it something you’ll actually remember but not something dumb like 12345678 which is easy to crack

Step 4: Save and Reboot

  • After you enter the new password, you need to click on ‘Save’ which will automatically restart the device.
  • And if not then you have to restart it manually by clicking the reboot button on the dashboard.
  • Wait for the lights on the RangeXTD to go off and come back on.
  • Once the device is rebooted, you are all set.

Step 5: Test the New Login

This is where most people forget to double-check and then regret it later.

  • Open your browser again then go back to the RangeXTD login page.
  • When the login screens open, enter your new password. If you are able to login then you are done. If not then you need to double-check that you have typed the password right.
  • If you are still unable to login then there are high chances that the password isn’t saved properly. In that case, you need to reset the extender.

Yes, it’s frustrating but better to deal with that once than leave it wide open forever.

Step 6: Do It via RangeXTD App

  • If you don’t like using the browser method, you can also do this through the RangeXTD app.
  • Just download it from the Play Store or App Store. Open it, connect your phone to your RangeXTD network, and it’ll automatically detect the booster.
  • You need to login with your current credential.
  • Then go to Settings > Account > Change Password. Type your current password and then set a new one.
  • Click on Save. The app might refresh or briefly disconnect which is normal. Once it reconnects, your new password is updated.

Common Issues While Changing Login

  • Page not loading: Happens if you’re connected to your main router instead of the RangeXTD Wi-Fi.
  • Settings not saving: Some older firmware versions has bug. Updating firmware through the RangeXTD app or website helps.
  • Password rejected after reboot: It’s usually a caching issue. You need to simply clear your browser’s cache or try logging into Incognito mode.

Wrapping It Up

You lock down your booster, stop anyone from snooping around your setup, and keep your network a little more secure. Use either the web interface or the RangeXTD app; both work fine. Once you change the login details, you don’t have worry. You Wi-Fi setup will work without any surprises, disconnections, and no one else logging in. So yes, it will take ten minutes.
